What is Voice- Over- IP?

Voice-over-IP (VoIP) is the two-way transmission of audio signals over a packet-switched IP (TCP/IP) network. VoIP usually refers to the transport of the audio signal over the public internet, the internet backbone of a Telecommunications carrier, private wide area network (WAN) or intranet.

Does the i-box PC Phone replace my existing phone service?

No. The i-box is an enhancement to your existing phone service, not a replacement. It allows you to choose between the two, for long distance use the i-box PC Phone, for local calls use your existing service. Another big advantage of the i-box PC Phone is that you can now make more than one call at a time so you effectively get a second phone line for free.

What am I paying for?

Your i-box community membership is charged on a flat monthly fee and provides you with full access. This fee will be based on the service plan you selected with the help of your i-box partner. Calls made to the i-box community are unlimited and FREE. Calls that you make to non-i-box community members using the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) will be charged by the minute at a preferred long-distance rate available through your i-box community membership.

What are the costs per minute in the same country, Germany for example?

If your call is within the i-box community the call is FREE. If you are calling outside the i-box community, the cost per minute is determined by the country you are calling into. If it is the same country, you still pay the rate for that country as listed on the i-box member special long-distance rate tables.
